Invited by Shenzhen Institute of Building Research (IBR), Studio Makkink & Bey joined the renovation plan for one of neighbourhood centres in the new area Xiongan, China. Studio Makkink & Bey renders a new community space, not only a place for gathering groups of activities, but also a place for inheriting and developing culture. Next to that a public exhibition area is integrated.
The first exhibition in the public area, from 12 December 2020 untill 12th of March 2021, was organised by the WaterSchool. Built on the themes Clean, Grow, Harvest, Make, Build and Document, the exhibition shows the production landscape around the WaterSchool. The exhibition shows examples on various production landscapes for products that are needed for the WaterSchool, f.e. garments, bricks and glass bottles. Through explanatory drawings different scenarios are given.
