Waterschool at Alcova during Milan Design Week

Waterschool at Alcova during Milan Design Week

During Milan Design Week 2019 WaterSchool by Studio Makkink & Bey is located in Alcova, a former factory north of Loreto, an ex-industrial space partly taken over by plants and vegetation.

Alcova
9-14 April 2019
opening hours 11 am – 7 pm
Via Popoli Uniti 11-13 Milan

Waterschool
Milan will hold a new chapter in the development of WaterSchool. Next to a presentation on WaterSchool, we are happy that Minji Choi, Aliki van der Kruijs, Atelier NL, Ola Korbanska, Boris Maas, Adelaide Lala Tam, Philipp Kolmann and Giuditta Vendrame are contributing to our presentation with their ideas, research and design. You will be able to meet members of the WaterSchool team. Some of the invited artists will be present in Alcova too, so this is your change to ask your questions about WaterSchool, talk to the designers and share your ideas.

Alcova
Alcova is an experimental prototype for an itinerant cultural institution in development by Space Caviar and Studio Vedèt. Currently operating as a roving platform for art and design across multiple sites in and around Milan, it activates forgotten locations and spaces of historical significance, temporarily recasting them as venues for performative activities. During Fuorisalone 2019 Alcova will occupy two sites, both of which will be open to visitors for the duration of Design Week. Both will be intensely programmed for the event’s duration with performances, exhibitions and installations involving over a dozen partners from as many countries. Together, these two sites will become a platform for designers, institutions, galleries and companies working at the avant-garde of themes such as contemporary living, design culture, materials and technological innovation.
